Built for the Norwegian market, Skaren covers over 250,000 groceries from chains like Rema 1000, Kiwi, Meny and Coop. The app is free to download on iOS. Skaren turns dense ingredient lists into one simple decision, right where you stand in the aisle.
Our mission
We believe everyone should be able to understand the food they buy without needing a nutrition degree. Skaren makes complex food information simple, helping shoppers make informed decisions while respecting individual preferences.
Founder
Lucian Hodea is the founder of Skaren. After moving to Norway he realised how cumbersome it was to understand Norwegian food labels: unfamiliar additives had to be looked up one by one, and it was hard to compare products quickly in the store. He built Skaren to turn that whole process into a single scan. With a background in product and technology, he leads the app's development with a focus on clarity, transparency and respect for people's own food choices. The goal isn't to tell people what they should eat, but to give them the overview they need to decide for themselves.
