What is E407?

Carrageenans or carrageenins are a family, Solieriaceae, of natural linear sulfated polysaccharides. They are extracted from red edible seaweeds. E407 sits in the E400–E499 series, which in the EU classification mainly covers thickeners, stabilisers and emulsifiers.
